So.. I used to work in an arcade and we'd get kids with Canadian coins. They don't work in our machine because the machines are designed to not allow them. The machines have a magnet explicitly places to catch Canadian coins so they don't get processed. This was because the coins were worth about 80 cents on the Dollar.

I'd often sell the kids a US quarter dollar for a Canadian quarter plus a nickel.

Anyway..with the falling US dollar, the Canadian dollar is nearly even. $1 US is now $1.02 Canadian. It used to be about $1.25 Canadian.
