Today was the second time I've seen deer at the Framingham exit of the Pike. Today also marks 4 recently dead deer I've seen along the highway(Pike and NYS Thruway) since I first saw that deer at the Framingham exit. What's up with the deer? Some sort of migration?

I've hopefully finished up my trips to MDC for the foreseeable future. At least I get paid for the time and the mileage. 28 miles one way. I did 4 round trips at something like 48.5 cents per mile is over 50 bucks. I submitted the paperwork to get reimbursed. I wonder if I'll get that first or get my CA refund first. After the 4th, I'll give CA another call to see what is taking so long.

deer are dumb. The bugs are coming out now and the deer walk out of the woods to avoid getting bit by them. Highways are hot black surfaces that the bugs don't swarm near. I've heard that before as one explanation as to why we see so many dead deer in the spring.

I drove to PA to pick up my sister from college a few years back and we saw on the order of 25 dead deers along highway 84 and highway 80. Which isn't that bad when we saw close to 30 dead raccoons. Long road trip... we took a tally and raccoons won.

Wow, me and my husband go down to PA those same routes a lot, and never saw that many dead deer (maybe 2 at the most)...we ended up hitting one and smashing the passenger side of the car...it didn't die though. The worse I ever saw was in college going to Penn State was half a deer on 322.

This was in May - it was amazing how many we saw on the road, most likely hit at night by truckers. I was driving all the way across state too, CMU in Pittsburgh.
