I'd prefer if the US / congress could only spend the amount brought in the previous year. In times of decline you could still go into debt, but not nearly as much. The estimated population of the United States is 299,082,103 so each citizen's share of this debt is $28,143.67. Damn, we jsut had a 4th family member, so my family's share($112,574.68) is a bit more than I can afford to pay right now.
